 JCCEO STAR Ambassadors

The JCCEO S.T.A.R. (Students Teaching and Reaching) Project is designed to link Head Start children with high school youth who are trained as mentors and teachers to deliver the PANDA (Preventing the Abuse of Tobacco, Narcotics, Drugs and Alcohol) Curriculum.  For more information call 205-787-3040.

The JCCEO STAR Ambassadors are Reaching, Empowering, Acting, and Learning.  The Southeastern Network's Annual Youth Empowerment Conference was held on July 18th-20th at the Sheraton Hotel.  Matt Morton, this year's guest presenter, focused on assisting youth attendees with ways to tap into their inner strength, wisdom, and power and then use those skills to recognize and reach out to other youth leaders in their communities.  Attendees toured the Civil Rights Museum and Sixteenth Street Baptist Church.  Reflections on what they had learned were conducted at Homewood Park.
