Our senior nutrition centers provide meals for seniors, fellowship and activities, and transportation as needed.
The Older Americans Act was enacted in 1965 and is termed as the "Bill of Rights for older Americans." The Act directs that special consideration be given to designating or developing multi-purpose senior centers as focal points. Jefferson County's Senior Gardens Program, a part of the Older Americans Act, came into being on March 22, 1972. Services range from information and assistance, transportation, legal services to counseling, recreation, education, health screening, and wellness programs offered through local senior garden centers.
JCCEO's St. Joseph's Senior Nutrition Center is one of 31 nutrition centers throughout Jefferson County. The target group for these programs are those who are economically, socially, and emotionally deprived.
