The Education Component is designed to meet each child's individual needs.

Every child receives a variety of learning experiences to enhance his/her intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth.

Each child becomes a member of a classroom in which ...
- The child is free to explore.
- The child works at his/her own pace.
- The child is encouraged to make a series of interrelated discoveries about the world.
- The child is helped to make acceptable adjustments in a group.

JCCEO Head Start-Early Head Start assesses children at the beginning of the year using the American Guidance System-Early Screening Profile.  For Head Start, this includes the Creative Curriculum Developmental Continuum, the Language and Early Literacy Assessment, and the Draw-A-Man.   For Early Head Start, children are assessed using the Creative Curriculum Developmental Continuum for Infants and toddlers four times per year.  

Continuing education and career and skills development for all Head Start Teachers and Teacher Aides are also offered and coordinated through this component.
