The Disabilities Component serves children with significant disabilities or special needs. A child with a disability can often learn more readily in a group with other non-disabled children. All children with disabilities are placed in nurseries and classrooms with other Early Head Start or Head Start children. Other children in the classroom are enriched by having a child with special needs in their class. Children with disabilities and their families receive the full range of Head Start services, along with special services related to the disability. The Disabilities Coordinator will conduct training and informational sessions for families with children with significant disabilities or special needs.
JCCEO Head Start staff members also work closely with other community agencies to provide services to meet the needs of all children, including those with disabilities.
JCCEO considers applicants for all services without regard to race, color, religion, creed, gender, national origin, age, disability, marital or veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected status.
